My Traverus Travel Certified Travel Agent ID Card

Published by Traveler under Travel Journey

On July 3rd, 2007, I joined Traverus Travel. While everyone else was recruiting I was planning and studying.

Don’t get me wrong, I will share this wonderful opportunity with people. I just wanted to achieve a goal I set for myself first and have something to show people to let them know that I am serious about this business. :)

I now have in my possession the Traverus Travel Certified Travel Agent ID! You have no idea how happy I am right now. Considering I wasn’t thinking about the travel industry back in June and to have this card in my hand makes me feel good!

Let me explain why!

Whenever I decide to visit family, take a weekend getaway, plan a vacation or cruise, I can call ahead and say, “Hi! My name is Shawn and I am a travel agent with Traverus Travel do you offer travel agent rates?”

That one line can save me hundreds of dollars! Sure, I may not get the discount but now I can legitimately ask for it and show my ID as well as business card.

I was so excited that I signed up with four major car rental companies as an agent and Altantis Bahamas to name a few. I will begin taking more training to get familiar with the travel landscape.

In the next post, I will share with you the three or four areas I plan to focus on when promoting my travel business. :)

Until next time!

Travel Agent Specializing Is The Key To Success

Published by Traveler under Travel Journey

In the previous post, I mentioned I would focus on three areas with my travel business. They are:

  • Cruise Travel
  • Group Travel
  • Las Vegas

Let me explain why I picked these three!

Cruise Travel - At the time I write this, Hurricane Dean has smacked Jamaica around, ran through the Cayman Islands and nearly ripped a part certain parts of Mexico.

Thousands of people who were vacationing in those areas were scared and attempted to leave. I’m sure they will be compensated for their loss! However, when you take a cruise things are a little easier.

For example, let’s say there is a hurricane bearing down on one of the ports of call. The ship can make a detour to another island or stay out at sea. You would still have all of the amenities you need on the ship and still have fun!

Group Travel - I know of a lot of people and many organizations that would love to take trips but do not know where to start. Once I let it be known that I can plan their vacation whether is be a land trip or cruise, they will be excited.

I have learned that people want what they want but don’t want to have to do the work. That’s where I come in, and you too if you become a Traverus Travel Agent. We would do all the work and ensure they have a wonderful time!

And guess what happens the next year? They come back to us because they remember we treated them like royalty! Imagine having ten groups with 15 to 20 people per group taking a trip each year by utilizing your services.

Las Vegas - Personally, I am not into gambling. But I did visit Las Vegas earlier this year for business and what I saw really opened my eyes. Las Vegas is becoming the premier entertainment destination for adults.

There are so many projects being built for the affluent that it would be foolish not to focus in that area. People want to go and they will spend money. Why not provide the level of service they require and build a long lasting relationship with them? :)

The number of shows, clubs and other forms of entertainment is mind boggling. Doing my research, I know there are thousands of people around the world who would be interested in visiting Las Vegas for the first time, and many more who will want to return to have more fun.

I’m sure you’re saying, “Hmmm…he didn’t provide a valid reason to focus on those three areas?” You’re right, I didn’t, so here is the reason, “Each of those areas are growing at a steady rate.” Below is a sample of the potential in the cruise travel arena:

  • According to the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) with the Core Market being individuals over 25 with an average income of $40,000 the most likely scenario is that 29,728,000 adults will cruise within the next three years, based on respondents’ intent to cruise. (Cruising Growth Rate Info)

I love traveling, I will take cruises more than I would probably take land-based trips, I have connections to large groups and my business partner lives in Las Vegas. It all fits together and I am having fun too!

What more could I ask for?

Until next time!
