On July 3rd, 2007, I joined Traverus Travel. While everyone else was recruiting I was planning and studying.

Don’t get me wrong, I will share this wonderful opportunity with people. I just wanted to achieve a goal I set for myself first and have something to show people to let them know that I am serious about this business.

I now have in my possession the Traverus Travel Certified Travel Agent ID! You have no idea how happy I am right now. Considering I wasn’t thinking about the travel industry back in June and to have this card in my hand makes me feel good!

Let me explain why!

Whenever I decide to visit family, take a weekend getaway, plan a vacation or cruise, I can call ahead and say, “Hi! My name is Shawn and I am a travel agent with Traverus Travel do you offer travel agent rates?”

That one line can save me hundreds of dollars! Sure, I may not get the discount but now I can legitimately ask for it and show my ID as well as business card.

I was so excited that I signed up with four major car rental companies as an agent and Altantis Bahamas to name a few. I will begin taking more training to get familiar with the travel landscape.

In the next post, I will share with you the three or four areas I plan to focus on when promoting my travel business.
